What is Parkinson's Disease? 

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurologic lease that causes shaking, tremors, stiffness, difficulties with walking, balance and coordination. The symptoms usually starts off mild but gradually worsen over time. Parkinson's disease (PD) is occurs when brain cells or neurons die or become impaired in the area of the brain that controls movement.

Symptoms of Parkinson's Disease

  • Tremors or shakiness in hands, arms, legs, jaw or head

  • Slow movements

  • Smaller than normal movements

  • Stiffness in trunk or limbs

  • Impaired balance (often tipping backwards) which can lead to falls 

  • Low voice volume
